During my 18 years as MP for Vancouver East, I stood up for positions that were a few steps beyond the status quo—whether it was speaking out against war crimes, calling for decriminalization to save lives, or being one of the first openly queer MPs in Canada.
Today, the stakes are even higher. People in Vancouver Centre face real challenges with safety, housing, and corruption that demand federal action. Instead of addressing these issues, right-wing populists exploit them to divide us and misrepresent our vibrant, diverse neighbourhoods.
That’s why I’m proud to support Avi Lewis. I’ve known Avi for years and seen his relentless commitment to justice and equity. He’s not afraid to speak hard truths or take on systemic problems. As a movement builder and storyteller, he knows real change comes from listening, working together, and fighting for solutions.
Avi will be a fearless advocate for climate action, affordable housing, and expanding public health care. But candidates like Avi don’t win without all of us stepping up. I’ve donated to his campaign, and I hope you will too. Even $25 can help him fight back against fearmongering and build a movement for hope and progress.
This is our chance to reject the politics of division and embrace Avi’s bold, people-first politics.
