Vancouver Centre deserves an MP who shows up for 2SLGBTQ communities every day of the year.
A bold NDP plan. A local choice that matters.
Canada needs a strong NDP opposition to protect what makes us different from the US, and your vote for Avi in Vancouver Centre could make all the difference.
Week 3 in Review: Fighting disinformation and knocking on doors till your knuckles hurt
From democracy forums to door-knocking marathons, from bold policy talks to joyful volunteer videos, this campaign is powered by care, courage, and community. We’re not just fighting to win an election—we’re building a movement where truth matters, no one is left behind, and politics feels human again.
Vancouver By-election: We showed up. We won. We decide what’s possible.
This week, something incredible happened.
Despite long lines, bad planning, and half the usual polling stations, Vancouverites didn’t back down. We lined up. We voted. And we made our voices heard in yesterday’s by-election.
Week 2 in Review: Rising to meet the moment, day after day
I don’t like to dwell on the personal sacrifices of running for office (though my team is always urging me to share more details of my life with you…). I’m incredibly privileged to have the support from my family and community to be able to do this intense and all-consuming thing. And I’m grateful that my body seems to have the strength and energy to be knocking on doors from 10am to 8pm every day of every week.
(I’m actually quite superstitious, but I feel like I knock on wood so many times a day that I could risk that one!)
Week 1 in Review: One Week In, and Already Everywhere
We’re off and running in this historic election! For us here in Vancouver Centre, there are two very different levels to this democratic exercise: while most eyes are on the national conversation, we’re laser-focused on the lives and concerns of our neighbours here in this beautiful yet expensive, inspiring and contradictory city.
ELECTION CALLED 🗳️ If this feels bigger than politics—you’re right
On Sunday, the election was officially called—and we have until April 28th to decide what kind of country we want to be. If this election feels different—heavier, more urgent—it’s because it is.
Rent Is Out of Control in Vancouver -- Here’s What We Can Do About It
We all feel it. The rent is too damn high.
And here in Vancouver Centre—where more than half of us rent our homes—that’s not just a slogan. It’s a daily crisis.
But this crisis wasn’t inevitable. It’s the result of decades of decisions—by Liberal and Conservative governments alike—to abandon renters and reward corporate landlords, hedge funds and speculators.
On the Fire at Nicholson Towers: Ottawa “missing in action“ in seniors housing
The fire at Nicholson Towers is a devastating reminder of how governments have failed our elders. Forty-two residents—many of them seniors with mobility challenges—have been displaced from their homes. And for what reason? A lack of basic fire protection in a building that was supposed to be safe. A social housing tower that should have been maintained with care, left instead to fall into disrepair.
Election Imminent - let’s talk about Mark Carney
In politics, you’re not supposed to talk about your opponents, repeat their messages or even say their names. You’re certainly not supposed to treat them fairly (which might even require a compliment or two). But I’ve never been a fan of these forced conventions - people are too smart, authenticity is too important, and in any case this is a unique political moment in which conventions are not exactly saving us.
So let’s talk about Mark Carney. I have thoughts…
