This week, something incredible happened.
Despite long lines, bad planning, and half the usual polling stations, Vancouverites didn’t back down. We lined up. We voted. And we made our voices heard in yesterday’s by-election.
This week, something incredible happened.
Despite long lines, bad planning, and half the usual polling stations, Vancouverites didn’t back down. We lined up. We voted. And we made our voices heard in yesterday’s by-election.
We elected Lucy Maloney and Sean Orr to city council.
Two bold, progressive leaders I proudly endorsed and volunteered for. Two campaigns we helped power: knocking doors, making calls, showing what solidarity looks like across party lines and across jurisdictions.
And they didn’t just win. They absolutely crushed the right-wing challengers. ABC insiders were already planning their victory speeches. But voters had other plans.
This wasn’t just a win for Lucy and Sean. It was a win for renters. For climate action. For safe streets designed around care and community, not fear and punishment.
It was a win for everyone who stood in line and said: Vancouver deserves better, and we won’t wait.
Don’t let anyone tell you to lower your ambition and be scared to vote for what you believe in. It’s not a time for cautious calculation, especially when it’s so clear people are demanding change.
Vancouver just proved what’s possible when we show up. Yes, Sim is still Mayor, but we have truthful and forceful elected officials now to hold this government accountable in opposition.
If you send me to Ottawa, I’ll do the same. You don’t get to pick the next Prime Minister, but you do decide who we send to hold them to account.
🚨 Can you chip in $25, $50, or whatever you can to build on this momentum and send Avi to Ottawa?
We’ve got just three weeks to go. Thousands more doors to knock. Renters to reach. Conversations to spark.

Or, if you can, come join us on the ground. We’ve got a full calendar of events and the best office playlists in town.
You helped elect Lucy and Sean. Now let’s do it again federally—right here in Vancouver Centre.
With gratitude and fire,
Avi
P.S. Don’t let them shrink our sense of what’s possible. We stand up. We decide.

Vancouver Centre deserves an MP who shows up for 2SLGBTQ communities every day of the year.
Canada needs a strong NDP opposition to protect what makes us different from the US, and your vote for Avi in Vancouver Centre could make all the difference.
From democracy forums to door-knocking marathons, from bold policy talks to joyful volunteer videos, this campaign is powered by care, courage, and community. We’re not just fighting to win an election—we’re building a movement where truth matters, no one is left behind, and politics feels human again.
